Ups And Downs Of Life Part 6

Jane who has just arrived at school now sees Cal sitting alone in the hut without the company of his twin Aaron and also Judy, Cal sees Jane who comes closer to him. 

“ Hi Cal, are you alone? Where are Aaron and Judy? ” Judy asked, deliberately wanting to get Cal to talk. 

“ Yes, I'm alone, Aaron and Judy are already in class. ” Cal replied.

“ Cal, do you mind if I'm friends with you? ” Jane tried to work up the courage to ask even though she was a little hesitant.

“ No, I don't mind, anyone can be friends with me as long as they are nice. After all you are beautiful, I think I like you. ” said Cal, bluntly at Jane, Jane was quite surprised to hear Cal compliment her beauty. 

“ Thank you ” Jane thanked him even though she felt a little strange at the compliment. 

“ Thank you for what? ” Cal asked, not understanding why Jane was thanking him. 

“ Thanks for the compliment, you said I was beautiful ” Jane was telling the truth even though she felt a little embarrassed talking to a guy she just met. 

“ Oh no problem, but in fact you do look beautiful... Hey why? Are you embarrassed to talk to me? ” asked Cal, noticing the look on Jane's face. Jane just nodded her head. 

“ Why are you shy? ” asked Cal again. This guy, even though he's quiet, turns out to be a friendly person too. For Cal, he is not actually quiet or shy to deal with people but he is actually an observer of the attitudes of those around him including Jane.

“ I've always been like this, I always feel shy when dealing with a guy I just met ” Jane answered Cal's question honestly. 

“ Oh, next time don't be shy anymore because we'll see each other often ” Cal said, Jane just nodded her head hearing Cal say that, she felt a little happy that Cal was willing to be friends with her. 

“ Cal, I want to go to class first okay? ” Jane said. 

“ Wait a minute! Let's just go to class together, because we're in the same class, let's hurry up before the geography lesson starts ” Cal said as he grabbed Jane's hand and led her into the classroom. 

After a few hours in class and studying four subjects, it was finally break time. They all rushed out of class and headed everywhere they wanted to go including Jane as well as Cal, the two of them were seen buying food in the canteen. After buying food, the two of them were seen sitting at one corner of the table in the canteen, they both look very intimate maybe their shyness has disappeared after getting to know each other.

“ Cal, where are your twin and Judy? Why don't they have lunch with us? ” Jane asked Cal out of curiosity where the lovers were now.

“ It's normal, they won't be seen at this time in the canteen, maybe they're dating everywhere in this school ” Cal answered as casually as possible. 

“ Oh is that so? ” Jane said.

“ Jane, can I ask you something? I hope you won't be offended if I ask you about this ” Cal said.

“ About what? ” Jane asked, wondering what Cal wanted to ask her anyway. 

“ Why did your parents get divorced? ” Cal asked, apparently this is what Cal wanted to ask, Jane thought this guy wanted to ask what. 

“ I'm not sure what the cause is, but what I know is that they don't have an understanding. At home they often fight even though it's about trivial things until Andrew and I are also tired of hearing it but we hope they don't get divorced but...you see where am I now  ” Jane told Cal about her parents.

“ It must be hard to deal with it, right? ” Cal asked because he understood what it was like to be in Jane's place who had to go through such an uncomfortable situation.  

“ It's real hard but what can I do, it's fate ” Jane answered.

“ If you have a problem, don't hesitate to talk to me, I want to be your listener ” Cal said as he looked at Jane as the girl just smiled heard Cal's words. 

After coming home from school Jane decided to take a walk around where she lives now, she wanted to refresh her brain because she was bored stay at home all the time which made her think about her parents and also Andrew who was far from the eye. While she was walking, she accidentally met Aaron and Cal's father, her grandfather's best friend, Cal and Aaron's father, Adam Trask, is heading home to meet her grandfather, Christopher. Adam smiled at Jane, so did Jane, she smiled back at Adam.

“ You must be Jane, Christopher Henderson's granddaughter, right? ” Adam Trask asked Jane.  

“ Yes, I am Jane, his granddaughter. You must be Adam Trask, Aaron and Cal's father, right? ” this time it was also Jane who asked Adam.  

“ That's right, I'm their father. Is your grandpa at home? I want to meet him ” Adam asked Jane about Christopher. .

“ Yes he is at home, just go ” Jane answered. 

“ Thank you ” Adam thanked Jane before he went to see Christopher, Jane didn't return Adam's thanks but she just saw the middle-aged man walking towards her grandparents' house. 

After that she continued her journey, Jane didn't know where to go because she wasn't used to her surroundings because she was new here. After thinking long on the side of the road, she decided to rest for a while at the children's playground which was not far from her grandparents' house. After she got there, Jane saw lots of little kids playing with their parents, they look very cheerful. Jane sat on the bench watching the little kids play, Jane's heart was calm and comforted to see them. Jane thought to herself how lucky that little kids were to be able to play with their parents, Jane thought about her mother and father and she also wondered if they missed her as much as Jane missed them? Jane hopes to be reunited with them someday even though it's not under the same roof anymore, but when she think about it again it seems very difficult to come true considering her mother who disappeared somewhere. Jane was really disappointed with everything that had happened but she couldn't blame her parents one hundred percent, maybe it is the best for them even though it's very unfair for her and Andrew but she has to accept the fate. Everything that has happened must have a reason, maybe God wants to test her and her family so that she can endure all the trials that will come in her life and hope that everything will be beautiful in time.
